WHAT IS A FLOWERSTICK?
You’ll find most of the answers right here in this video:
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are lots of ways to approach and understand the artistry of flowerstick juggling.
This article assumes you have an interest in movement, sports, juggling – or that you’re simply curious by nature. It also assumes you’re open to new, useful, and worthwhile things. Is it right? If the answer is yes, … play a little question-answer game with us!
- What’s the first thing that pops into your head when you hear the word “juggling”?
- And what do you think of when you hear the term “skill game”?
Pause for a second. Think about them… Then scroll on.
Got it?
Maybe you thought of juggling balls, or maybe some kind of online skill game? Both are totally correct! So are about a hundred other answers…
Now let’s twist things up a bit:
- Which juggling skill would you actually like to try - and be impressively good at?
- Which skill games do you play (or want to play), and what do they offer you besides cool tricks?
Quick note: let’s skip wingsuit and base jumping unless you have a mountain and a parachute handy. Let’s stay on the ground and think of everyday stuff.
If you have your answer, keep scrolling.

A Small Confession
I, the writer of these lines, would love to be able to solve a Rubik’s Cube. In theory, it’s not hard. YouTube is full of tutorials. It’s clearly doable. I even made some progress… and then somewhere along the way, my motivation quietly packed its bags and left… It just didn’t give me enough joy to justify the effort. So I stopped. Nothing tragic. Just not my thing… maybe later…
And that’s the point…
There’s no single right answer. It depends on the person. It depends on you. Your skills, interests, habits, and what puts you into a state of FLOW!!
And honestly, you might not even know yet – because there are so many options out there, that trying all of them is basically impossible.
One thing is almost always true, though… I think we can agree that:
The simplest things are often the best!
Cola is great. But if you could only choose one drink for the rest of your life… water would probably win, right?
So, Why Not Balls?
Many people think of ball juggling first because it’s:
- simple,
- accessible,
- spectacular,
- and cool!
Learning to juggle with three balls is a realistic goal, and chances are you already have something ball-shaped lying around at home. Type “ball juggling” into the internet, and boom – you might be making progress by tonight.
But! Not everyone is a ball person.
I have been playing flowerstick for 20 years and I’m still not great at ball juggling. It just doesn’t motivate me enough. Right now, I’m playing around with a balance board because my balance needs work – and surprisingly, I’m loving those tiny successes.
And that, dear Reader, is where flower sticks enter the scene!
Why FlowerSticks?
Everything you’ve read so far has basically been about them. To visualize it differently, imagine the stick instead of the ball. The flowerstick is also a very simple tool. Especially, when you play without handsticks, then it’s just one stick.
With two handsticks… it’s still basically one stick because the handsticks just become extensions of your hands. They’re
- easy to learn,
- take up very little space,
- can be picked up anytime, anywhere
- awesome!
And in return, you can get:
- a new hobby
- skill development
- moments of flow
- a sense of achievement
- a great game
- a new passion
- and yes… almost something like good friend!
Compared to all that, the investment is honestly kind of ridiculous.
You won’t just end up with a ‘decent’ game but you are way more likely to invest in a great opportunity.
Sure, if someone is completely closed off to this kind of thing, it won’t be their path. But if you’ve read this far… yeah, you’re probably not that person 🙂
Let’s Talk About
Kids & Flowersticks
Flowerstick is one of the ideal first skill games for children – you can start - from around age 6.
As a parent, it’s only natural to think: I want my child to be skillful and resourceful! Sports! Music! But then there are smartphones and tablets, which kids just love… but let’s be honest – almost anything is better than those. So of course, you want your kids to spend time learning and experiencing something great!
Good news:
Flower stick is a total crowd-pleaser with kids!
Six- to twelve-year-olds are the stick’s biggest fans. After just a little practice, you’ll see improvements in:
- reflexes
- movement & hand-eye coordination
- balance
- rhythm
- …
all while they’re just playing. Sometimes concentrating. Sometimes grinning. Both are good outcomes.
Fun & Skills!
(Yes, that’s our slogan. No coincidence.)
Playing together is a whole new level of fun!
It’s even better when the kids have someone to practice with - a friend, a sibling, or… a parent (who often falls in love with the stick suspiciously fast). Playing together, motivating each other – that’s how the flowerstick becomes a part of everyday life.
And while kids are the most enthusiastic users, they’re definitely not the only ones. Party people love it (especially with flowy music), it’s amazing for meditation – and our absolute favourites are those pensioners who, when asked “Who wants the stick?”, answer: “Me, of course!” Eternally young. I hope I’ll be like them one day! 🙂
Is flower stick something for you?
If you like:
- being active
- practicingsports
- trying new activities
- taking care of your health
- taking care of your child
- and chasing FLOW constantly
…then this entertaining, versatile, skill-building juggling game absolutely deserves a spot in your life!
